Terms of use

Last updated 23 August 2026

These terms cover the free declaration check on thedeclarant.com. Using the checker means accepting them.

What the service does

You upload a customs declaration or a related commercial document. We read fields from it and run automated consistency, classification, origin, trade-remedy and cost checks against official reference data, then show you what looks missing, inconsistent or financially exposed.

What the service is not

  • It is not a customs filing. Nothing you do here is submitted to any customs authority.
  • It is not customs clearance and not a substitute for a declarant, broker or freight forwarder.
  • It is not certification of any kind and confers no approval, accreditation or compliance status.
  • It is not legal or tax advice, and it does not create a professional relationship.
  • It does not guarantee compliance, accuracy or completeness. A clean result is not a statement that a declaration is correct.

Findings are decision support for a competent human reviewer. The declarant of record remains solely responsible for what is declared and for verifying anything material with their broker or authority before acting on it.

Your document

Your uploaded document is deleted automatically within 24 hours. We retain the generated report and delivery email for up to 30 days so you can reopen it. You can delete the document and report immediately at any time from the report page.

You must have the right to upload the document you submit. Do not upload material you are not permitted to disclose. Full detail on handling is in the privacy notice.

Acceptable use

The checker is rate-limited and offered free of charge. Do not attempt to circumvent those limits, probe or attack the service, or use it to process material unlawfully. We may withdraw access if you do.

Availability and change

The service is provided as-is, without warranty. It may be unavailable, withdrawn or changed at any time. Reference data is sourced from official publications and can lag the source.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on a finding, from a finding we did not raise, or from any duty, penalty, delay or cost following a declaration you submitted. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
